Draft WODC Local Plan 2043 Consultation

WODC have launched the public consultation on the Draft West Oxfordshire Local Plan 2043, representing the final stage of public consultation before the Local Plan is submitted for independent examination.

The consultation will run from 26 August until 9 October 2026 and we’re asking for your help to raise awareness and encourage people in your communities to take part.

The Draft Local Plan brings together several years of work and feedback from four previous rounds of public consultation. Most recently, around 2,260 comments were received from approximately 880 individuals and organisations through the Preferred Spatial Options consultation.

That feedback, alongside further evidence and technical work, has helped shape the Plan being published today. It sets out how West Oxfordshire is proposed to grow and develop up to 2043, including where new homes, jobs and infrastructure should go and the policies that will guide future development.

What are we asking people to comment on?

Regulation 19 is different from our previous consultations.

Earlier stages asked residents and stakeholders to help us develop the Plan by commenting on different ideas and objectives, policies and potential site locations. We are now consulting on the full draft plan that the Council intends to submit for independent examination later in the year.

At this stage, comments should focus particularly on whether the Plan is:

• Legally compliant – prepared in line with the relevant planning legislation and regulations
• Sound – positively prepared, justified, effective and consistent with national planning policy

Representations received during the consultation will be submitted alongside the Plan to the Planning Inspectorate and will help inform its independent examination.
